Team India skipper MS Dhoni had made an early announcement that they were going to give the guys on the bench a go in this match and that is what happened. They made three changes in the XI, regulars Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashish Nehra were rested and Harbhajan Singh, Pawan Negi and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were given a game. Negi also made his international debut with this match.

UAE skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. Indian bowling attack today led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar started off really well; Bhuvi was spot on with his line and length. He bowled to his strength and swung the ball both ways. It was nice to see him do that irrespective of the short of the length – high on pace spells he tried last time round that he featured in the team. This certainly gives the Indian team an option in case Mohammad Shami isn’t fit in time for the World T20. All the bowlers including Yuvraj Singh that were given the ball got Dhoni the wicket. The UAE innings folded for 81 in the 20 overs as they lost 9 wickets.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started off well. Rohit played his shots and gave the team a brisk start; it was nice to see him play those elegant shots. He got out on 39 hitting it straight to the third-man fielder. Yuvraj Singh was promoted to number 3 and he joined Dhawan in the middle though the opener hadn’t looked convincing till then he did hit a few boundaries. Yuvi after his arrival got the team home in no time with his 14-ball 25. He hit four 4s and a 6.

It was one of the dullest T20 game we have seen in recent time, taking nothing away from UAE, they didn’t have the resources to challenge the Indian team that is looking invincible at this stage.
