Twitter Reactions: India choke against the Windies
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions during the course of the game.
Cricket tends to surprise when you least expect from it. Ever since the last two games, the notion of Windies being terrible competitors has been doing the rounds. Sounds like a wake-up call as they did snatch an enthralling victory in what was a low scoring game.
As for India, they had the same batting problems. A rare top order failure followed by some really terrible batting by the middle and lower order. MS Dhoni batted with a questionable approach and again gave impetus to the point that he was no longer the finisher he used to be.
The toss was won by the Windies who elected to bat first. For the starters, it seemed India made the right decision to drop Yuvraj Singh after repeated failures. However, bringing in Dinesh Karthik instead of him wasn’t a great move. Rather than testing and trying, it was better if the management showed resilience on a young Rishabh Pant.
The Windies top order got starts but failed to convert it into anything big. In what was a slow pitch, they ended their quota of 50 overs with just 189 runs on the board. Openers Evin Lewis and Kyle Hope were the top scorers with both scoring 35 each.
Kuldeep Yadav delivered yet another splendid performance with the ball. Umesh Yadav and Hardik Pandya were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets each. Mohammed Shami who played his first One Day International after more than 2 years was impressive as well.
As of the Indian batting, Ajinkya Rahane continued to display his tremendous form with the bat. The likes of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan failed to do any magic with the bat. Even Dinesh Karthik failed to make good use of this opportunity.
MS Dhoni played a really slow inning as he waited to cash in at the end. In the process, he also registered his slowest half-century ever. However, his ploy failed terribly as he was dismissed on 54(114) [you read that right]. India fell short by 11 runs as they were all out for 178 runs.
Jason Holder was right adjudged the man of the match for his five wicket haul. Leaving Roston Chase, every other Windies bowler got a wicket. The little crowd that turned out for the game rejoiced their team’s victory over India as you could see smiles all around in the Caribbean camp. The action now shifts to Thursday as both teams meet for one final game.
