Twitter Reactions: India crush Pakistan on back of all-round efforts in a crucial CWG fixture
Smriti Mandhana was excellent with the bat as she scored 63 runs to push India to win by eight wickets.
Team India completed a dominating victory over their arch-rivals Pakistan during a group stage match played on July 31 (Sunday). After an excellent bowling performance from the Women in Blue, opening batter Smriti Mandhana completely demolished Pakistan’s bowling line-up as Team India registered an important victory in the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG) by eight wickets.
Talking about the match, Pakistan Women won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch that was providing assistance to the seam bowlers. The Women in Green were given some early jolts as they lost their first wicket without opening their account.
Batters Muneeba Ali (32 runs), Bismah Maroof (17 runs), Omaima Sohail (10 runs), Ayesha Naseem (10 runs), and Aliya Riaz (18 runs) got starts in their innings, but the Women in Blue ensured that none of them converted their starts to a big score. For India, Renuka Singh (one wicket), Meghna Singh (one wicket), Sneh Rana (two wickets), Radha Yadav (two wickets), and Shafali Verma (one wicket) were the successful bowlers. Except for Meghna Singh, none of the Indian bowlers conceded more than six runs per over in their bowling effort.
Team India thrashes the Pakistan bowling unit
Chasing 100 runs to win, Team India started with a bang as Verma and Smriti Mandhana were all over the meek-looking bowling unit of Pakistan. Even after Verma got out, Mandhana continued her onslaught and soon completed her fifty.
Despite Meghana getting out towards the ending phase of the match, the Women in Blue completed an easy victory over meek-looking Pakistan side as they move forward in their hunt for gold in CWG 2022. Previously, Team India had to suffer a hard defeat against Australia in their competition opener, but they have come back strongly and will want to win their next match as well.
Pakistan, on the other hand, have a lot to think about as they have already lost two back-to-back matches in CWG 2022 and they need to make a strong comeback if they are aiming for a medal.
