The India U-19 team scripted history earlier today after decimating arch-rivals Pakistan by a staggering 203 runs margin in the semi-finals of the junior World Cup. With the win, the Men in Blue set up their summit clash against Australia on February 3. Both the nations have won three titles each, as we gear up for a high octane finale with the teams trying to get one better than their opponents.
The Indian colts have been flawless and looked in supreme form this tournament. Playing the second semi-final in Christchurch, India were the favorites of winning the game. The Men in Blue put up a clinical and comprehensive all-round performance ensuring they faced no hiccup once again in their unbeaten run so far at the ICC U-19 World Cup.
However, the mouth-watering contest featuring the two arch-rivals was reduced to a rather one-sided affair by Shubhman Gill’s battling century, followed by Pakistan’s miserable fielding show and then India bowlers pummelling Pakistan’s batting lineup to end things.
Electing to bat first, India posted a total of 271 at the end of their innings, courtesy a blinder of 102 from vice-captain, Shubman Gill. Gill remained ‘not out’ at 102, while Manjot Kalra and Prithvi Shaw scored 47 runs and 41 runs, respectively as the Pakistani bowlers’ evidently failed in their persistent attempt at taking wickets.
Chasing an achievable target and a spot in the championship finals, the Pakistan batsmen failed terribly to put up a decent fight and were bowled out for a measly 69 runs after just 21 overs. Rohail Nazeer remained the highest scorer with 18 runs, while as many as eight players on the team unable to get into double figures. Ishan Porel took four wickets in the match, in only six overs.
India once again established their dominion over Pakistan in ICC tournaments. After a loss in the CT finals last year, the win comes as a bittersweet victory for all Indian fans. And the Twitterati did not miss out on the chance of celebrating this massive win. Soon enough India won, Twitter exploded lauding and heaping praises on this bunch of young colts.

Shubman Gill's 102 not out is the first ever century in India-Pakistan contests in the U19 World Cups. Previous highest: 85* by Salman Butt at Lincoln in 2002. #U19CWC
