In another excellent Test match at the Eden Gardens spanning 4 days, India emerged victorious by 178 runs and sealed the series 2-0 in their favour. There was some brilliant all round performance throughout the game by the Indian team.
The Day 4 began with India resuming their inning with a lead of 338 runs. They manage to set a target of 376 with Wriddhiman Saha again remaining not out after scoring another gritty knock of 58. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also made a handy contribution before Neil Wagner got the better of him.
The visitors began well with a 50-run partnership for the opening wicket. Martin Guptill once again failed to capitalise on a good start as he was trapped by Ravichandran Ashwin in front of the stumps. The Kiwis seemed to be getting into the groove before Ravindra Jadeja had Henry Nicholls caught at slip.
From there on, the Indian bowlers showed great character to topple the Kiwi top order. New Zealand lost 7 wickets in the last session as India went on to win the game by 178 runs. Wagner for a moment tried to irk the Indian bowlers at the end of the day but Trent Boult ended up skying one in the air.

With this win, India registered its fourth consecutive Test series victory and also regained its No.1 ranking. Ashwin, Mohammad Shami and Jadeja, all got 3 wickets each while the hero of the first inning, Bhuvneshwar also managed to take a wicket.
Saha for his two timely unbeaten fifties was declared the man of the match. Twitter had words of adulation for some superb contribution by Indian players. Right from Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Saha, to Bhuvi, Shami and Ashwin.

In real terms, it goes to show that you don't have a dominant force in Test cricket.

Pujara and Bhuvi both gave a solid test match performance. But we may drop them both in our lust for quicker runs and faster balls.

Much credit to the curators at both Green Park and Kanpur though. Two terrific games. One went to day five, the other almost so. #INDvsNZ

Remember India go back to No 1 on the ICC rankings. And it will be heartening that almost every player has contributed to the result.

Big responsibility on Ross Taylor. Has had an iffy series so far. This has to be his moment.

Saha is the first ever batsman to remain not-out in the 50s in both innings of a Test match. A pointless yet curious stat.
