Twitter Reactions: India surrender to South Africa in the final ODI: It was expected to be the best match of the series since both the teams wanted to register a win and get their hands on the ODI series trophy. Those who expected a close game were left gasping when the South African batsmen went all guns blazing and never gave the Indian bowlers a chance to control one off the 50 overs.
Opener Quinton de Kock who has been in love with the Indian bowlers right thorough out his career smashed 17 boundaries and a sublime six to score 109 off 87 balls at a strike rate of 125.28, the 4th of his career against India.
Faf du Plessis took over from Hashim Amla and got to his fifty off 61 balls. South Africa had 200 on the board in 29 overs. The duo of du Plessis and de Villiers brought up their 50 partnership off 47 balls; soon ABD reached his fifty off 34 balls. The partnership turned big and they got to the 100 from just 77 balls.
The Proteas got to 300 in the 41st over, as the Indian bowlers struggled to get their act together. In the end with a century by Faf (133) and AB (119) South Africa posted 438-4 in 50 overs.
Indian batsmen had a huge-huge task at hand and if ever they had to get there they needed the top order to bat big, nobody did and the best innings that came up for the Indians was from the Mumbai lad Ajinkya Rahane who scored a respectable 87 off 58 balls. But in the end 439 runs were little too much for India to manage and they fell short by a massive margin of 214 runs.
With that South Africa take the series and it is their 1st ever bilateral series win in India.
