India have finally managed to pick last England’s wicket on the final morning of the third Test match at Trent Bridge. It is a brilliant comeback from them given the way they were humbled at Lord’s. This Test proved to be a perfect script for the visitors as most of their batsmen scored runs and importantly, countered the swing bowling very well. However, it was Ravi Ashwin who won the game for India in the morning by scalping James Anderson in the third over of the day.

The match should’ve finished on the fourth day itself after they collapsed in the final session from being 231/4 to 241/8. But the lower order of the hosts, as they often do, frustrated the opposition by scoring some quick runs even as the crowd also enjoyed to the hilt. Adil Rashid‘s batting abilities came to the fore superbly and he enjoyed his stay in the middle. At stumps, he was unbeaten on 30 off 54 deliveries and stitched a partnership of 50 runs with Stuart Broad.

A quick end to the proceedings

The unbeaten duo of Anderson and Rashid strode out to the middle with an aim to stretch the game as much as possible on the fifth morning. On the other hand, the Indians were keen to win the game as it was only a formality. Hardik Pandya began the day for them as Anderson played him out with the not much real fuss. Rashid also added a few runs in the next over of Mohammed Shami after which Virat Kohli brought Ashwin into the attack to end the proceedings.

The offie, who didn’t look 100% in this game, didn’t disappoint his skipper and turned one big from wide of the crease to take the edge of the left-hander as Ajinkya Rahane managed to pouch it to confirm that there was no more drama in the game. England were eventually bowled out for 317 runs and India stunningly came back in the series with a 203-run victory.
