Resuming from their overnight score of 11/1, the Indian team failed to lose a single wicket in the first session. The duo of Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara displayed an exhibition of some sensational batting. Both managed to frustrate the Sri Lankan bowlers.
While Sri Lanka did miss some of their chances, Vijay and Pujara continued to bat with considerable grit and determination. Both put up a sensational partnership of 209 runs for the second wicket as the visitors couldn’t find a single success in the first two sessions.
Making a comeback to international cricket after a gap of 8 months, Vijay registered his 10th century in Tests. The opener displayed tremendous valour in his innings of 128, hitting 11 boundaries and a maximum as well. Rangana Herath finally managed to get the breakthrough.
Pujara too went on to score a scintillating century which was his 14th Test hundred. In the process, he even crossed 1000 runs in Tests this year. He played over 250 balls in his innings and was absolutely magnificent with his defense.
The skipper Virat Kohli who had to wait for almost two sessions before walking in found himself at ease. He didn’t take time to settle down as he played some cracking shots. If Pujara’s batting was a classic treat, Kohli’s strokes were as much pleasing for the eyes. He went on to score a remarkable half century as well before the close of play.
India were comfortably placed on 312/2 at stumps on Day 2 with a lead of 107 runs. Twitter was at it’s splendid best. The Indian top order was praised for their stupendous batting while the Sri Lankan team got trolled for their failure to inflict any kind of pressure.
Here we present to you, some of the amazing Twitter reactions that emerged during the day:
Virat bats, I watch!

Kohli's energy, and that easily scored 50, has propelled India to the target the team would have had in mind. Lead of 100 by close.

A sign of a great player is when you don't even realize he's in and settled. Virat Kohli is often that, already got to his fifty. Flowing knock. #INDvSL

Cheteshwar ‘Dependable’ Pujara. Appetite for runs is insatiable. Half an hour away from batting on all 8 days of this series. #IndvSL
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) November 25, 2017
When Pujara is well set, he has his wonderful habit of putting the ball in a gap to take a run. Almost as though in his mind, the run has been completed before the ball reaches him.

The Way Cheteshwar Pujara stays on the ground is the same as problems of my life
They never want to go out
??????
Congratulations on your 14th Test Hundred— Asjadullah Khan?? (@AsjadullahKhan5) November 25, 2017
Reckless review from Chandimal. Dickwella, with the best view, already said it was bat first. #IndvSL
— Samreen (@SamreenRazzaqui) November 25, 2017
Bhai it was obvious even in real time (and on TV) that there was an inside edge from Virat here. How can Chandimal even think of reviewing that? SMH! #INDvSL

Never score a hundred just before Virat Kohli comes in to bat. The crowd will cheer your dismissal.
— Trendulkar (@Trendulkar) November 25, 2017
Virat Kohli should prove he is the best batsman by scoring a century before Pujara goes from 95-100 #INDvsSL

Vijay’s comeback hundred gives India a happy headache. Acutally, it shouldn’t be a headache at all: he should open in Cape Town
— Sambit Bal (@sambitbal) November 25, 2017
Patience level: Watching and waiting for Pujara to go from 90s to 100.
— Trendulkar (@Trendulkar) November 25, 2017
Cheteshwar Pujara tells us that patience and consistency are his best friends and if you have both then you can achieve greater heights. #INDvSL

Think Sri Lanka need to hire a coach for their use of DRS. #INDvSL

Great from @sanjaymanjrekar to finally talk about this great issue plaguing India. How can the popcorn be priced more than the CInema ticket itself!! #INDvSL

One of those rare days when you get to watch all three of them bat in a Test – Virat Kohli, Steve Smith & Joe Root. #Ashes #INDvSL

Murali
Brilliant 100 in this #INDvSL match plus 800 Test wickets.
What a player! pic.twitter.com/55lghmTjey

I know that I’m getting a little greedy but Vijay should be getting daddy hundreds. Only thing that’s keeping his Test average in 40s. Should be in 50s. @IndvSL
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) November 25, 2017
I would pay money to watch a Murali Vijay cover drive. Heck I will pay money to watch him leave an outswinger. #IndvSL
