Twitter Reactions: Indian bowlers rule the rooster on Day 1
In an intriguing day of test cricket at the Mohali stadium, Kohli’s men held an upper hand as the third session came to an end. Alastair Cook had earlier won the toss as the English team elected to bat first. Buttler, Batty and Woakes came in for England. The hosts also made a couple of changes with Parthiv Patel coming in for the injured Saha while Karun Nair was handed his Test debut.
England were left reeling at 87/4 after the first session. It was Bairstow who saved the day for the visitors who otherwise could’ve been bundled under 200. Rising to the occasion as always, he played a slow yet steady knock of 89 runs, missing out on a well-deserved century.
Buttler did provide some solace from his side with an odd 40 runs but the rest of the batting lineup including the experienced Cook and the talented Root were sent back to the pavilion.
India though did contribute a fair share of misery. While the bowlers bowled well, there were as many as 4 dropped catches by Ashwin, Jadeja and Parthiv(twice). In spite of that, India had the England batting restricted to 268/8 at stumps on Day 1.
Jayant Yadav managed to LBW the irresistible Bairstow as he shone again. All the bowlers had a great outing on the field. While both the Yadavs and Jadeja got a couple of wickets each, Shami and Ravi Ashwin also managed to grab one wicket each.
Twitter was all praise for Jayant Yadav’s bowling. There were also praises sung for Jonny Bairstow following his fighting innings of 89(177). On the other hand, the Indian fielders got trolled for the poor fielding while the England batsmen were criticised for throwing it away. Here are some of the amazing twitter reactions during the course of the game.
