Twitter Reactions: Indian cricketers and administrators mourn the demise of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: Former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam passed away today. Dr. Kalam was delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong. He collapsed during the lecture and was soon rushed to the hospital at around 6.30 pm IST. Minutes later the hospital authorities declared that the former Prez was no more, as he suffered a cardiac arrest which eventually proved to be fatal. The cricketing fraternity mourned the passing of APJ. As most cricketers and administrators including the BCCI tweeted, expressing grief and sorrow.

Abdul Kalam who had a really popular tenure as the President of India had a huge following among young children as he would often interact with them during his role as the president and till today was an active social and public figure. The missile man of India rose to the highest constitutional position in the country hailing from Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. He was a renowned scientist and is remembered for his role in developing ballistic missiles for the country and for his unparallel contribution in the development of nuclear missiles and technology in India.

He was the President of India between July 2002- July 2007. Kalam’s body will now be taken to Guwahati and then to his hometown Rameshwaram by tomorrow, where his last rights will be carried out. The government of India has already declared a national mourn of 7 days.
