In these times where the bat often dominates the ball, the MSL 2019 game between Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Durban Heat was a great refresher. The pitch wasn’t an easy one for the batsmen and the slower balls weren’t coming on nicely. However, Jason Roy and Chris Morris played good knocks under demanding situations and helped their team remain unbeaten in the tournament.
Durban Heat had the game under their control for most of the time. But the bowling in the last two overs of the match completely upset the rhythm and thus they remain winless this season. Batting first, Heat were down to 27/3 early on and then further reduced to 50/4. At this stage, Ravi Bopara and David Miller came to the rescue. The England cricketer was unbeaten on 57 off 43 balls while Miller scored 45 from 36 deliveries. Wesley Marshall also made a handy contribution of 29 runs which helped the team get to 160/5. Nandre Burger picked up two wickets.
Chris Morris comes up with the big hits at the end
Nelson Mandela Bay Giants didn’t get to the best of starts. Opener Matthew Breetzke took his time and crawled his way to 25 from 31 balls. But then, Jason Roy and JJ Smuts made up for this slow knock. The captain of the team mustered 33 runs from 23 balls before he got out. Roy went on to get his fifty from 38 balls but was soon run out after getting to the milestone.
By picking up two wickets in the 18th over, Malusi Siboto kept the Durban Heat ahead. However, in the last two overs, the bowlers conceded 31 runs. Chris Morris played a gem of a knock towards the end under pressure. The all-rounder smashed three fours and a six to remain unbeaten on 22 off 10 balls.
Siboto failed to defend 16 runs in the final over as the Giants got over the line with a ball to spare. They won the match by five wickets and Jason Roy was named the ‘Man of the Match’. Twitterati enjoyed this competitive game which left the fans on the edge of their seats. They liked the efforts of Jason Roy and Chris Morris.
Here is how Twitterati reacted:
Chris Morris seals thrilling win after Jason Roy 50 as @NMB_Giants stay on top. Heat had recovered through Miller & Bopara's 100 run stand but their total wasn't big enough as Giants won by 5 wkts @durban_heat @MSL_T20

Love this David Miller… Wish could see him this way all the time he plays…
Excellent recovery by him and Bopara..— Fanele Mbuyazi (@FaneleMbuyazi8) November 23, 2019
Obviously hence I agree.
Fielding I can agree.
Seeing unathletic people doesn’t bother me if they do the Job. Magala and Shamsi still doing a job and JJ Smuts who was dropped from India over fitness is also doing well.

@Tim32_cricket @cricfanaticsmag @billz_25 @DanCricket93 we have a number of veterans putting their hands up along with the youngsters. For instance JJ smuts has batted well in this series. Lots to ponder for our new DOC #MSLT20 #cwc2020
