Twitter Reactions: Jasprit Bumrah smacks maiden fifty in his professional career against Australia A
Bumrah managed to lit up the gloomy Indian dug-out as he smashed a scintillating half-century.
The Indian cricket team is involved in a three-day day-night warm-up game against Australia A from December 11 to December 13 at Sydney Cricket Ground. This is an important game from India’s point of view considering they would be playing their first pink-ball Test outside India against Australia starting on December 17 in Adelaide. Jasprit Bumrah is the Man of the day for India as he registered his highest ever score in professional cricket with the willow.
Toss went Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s way and he elected to bat first. India had a terrific start as the opening batsman Prithvi Shaw and Shubhman Gill looked in form and showed determination to bring runs for their team. While Shaw smashed 40 runs off just 29 deliveries, Gill played a knock of 43 runs off 58 balls. However, the young Cameron Green took the scalp of Shubman to initiate a collapse of the Indian batting line-up.
The visitors looked in trouble as no other batsman took the responsibility to score runs for the team and take them towards a respectable total. India was on verge of getting all-out within 120 runs, however, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj stitched a crucial partnership of 71-runs for the last wicket to take India towards a total of 194.
Jasprit Bumrah and Cameron Green suffer a concussion
Bumrah managed to lit up the gloomy Indian dug-out as he smashed a scintillating half-century. The pacer smashed 55 runs off 57 deliveries including 6 boundaries and 2 maximums. There was a little dramatic twist too in his knock. In the 44th over, Bumrah got hit on his helmet on the delivery by Cameron Green and for a moment Australia thought that they had their man. But after mandatory concussion Tests, Bumrah was good to go and announced his arrival back on the field with a boundary.
This was followed by Green getting hit on his head by the ball in the 46th over. On a short of a length delivery, Bumrah smacked it straight to the bowler. Green made an effort to catch it but it ended up hitting him on his head. As a result, Mitchell Swepson replaced Green as he was out of the field.
Meanwhile, India have a respectable total on the board owing to the heroics of Bumrah and now the bowlers have to take timely wickets to end the day on a good note.
