England had already secured the series after winning the first two matches of the three match T20 series. However, with less than a year left for the T20 World Cup every game is an important one. South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first.
They had to make a couple of changes as their premier pacer Kagiso Rabada was down with an injury. Eoin Morgan, on the other hand, stuck to the same team as he said England had the balance they were looking for. Quinton de Kock had not played to his potential in this series thus far and the Proteas would have hoped for something special from him this time around.
However, that was not to be the case. The top three failed to contribute enough and as a result they stood at 64-3 at the end of 9.3 overs. It seemed like the visitors will restrict the opposition to a small total again. Faf du Plessis and Rassie Van der Dussen were the men in the middle for South Africa.
They stitched a partnership which no one would forget anytime soon. They combined to make a 128-run partnership in only 10.3 overs. The former scored 52 runs off 37 balls while the latter smashed 74 runs in just 32 deliveries. Their efforts helped their team reach a score of 191-3 at the end of their 20 overs.
Dawid Malan steals the show with yet another stellar performance
If you ever had any doubts on why Dawid Malan was the number one ranked T20I batsman, this match would’ve surely cleared those. After losing the wicket of Jason Roy early on, Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan ensured that no one else is required to bat.
Buttler returned to form scoring 67 runs off 46 balls while Malan dominated the proceedings with an unbeaten 99 in just 47 deliveries. They combined to form a mammoth partnership of 167 runs. Unfortunately, Malan missed his maiden T20I century by just one run but he played a memorable knock.
England ended up winning the match in just 17.4 overs to hand the hosts another defeat. It was clear that no target is big enough for this English side. With this victory, they also whitewashed South Africa 3-0 to win this series.

This is the best I've seen Malan bat in an England shirt, this. His journey from temp, to slightly unwelcome guest, to gun, to basically locked on to play in the World Cup, is pretty remarkable. #SAvENG

Shall we stop talking about the slow-starting World No1 T20i batsman Dawid Malan and his place in England's team now?
