The fourth One Day International between Australia and India at the PCA Stadium in Mohali turned out to be a high-scoring affair with over 700 runs being scored. Eventually, it was Aaron Finch and Co who won the game by four wickets. Most importantly, the visitors, captained by Aaron Finch, drew level in the five-match series with the deciding contest to be played in Delhi on Wednesday, March 13.

Dhawan returns to form

After deciding to bat first, India got off to a stupendous start as the openers- Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan stitched together a masterful stand of 193 runs from 31 overs. Rohit returned to form with a knock of 92 runs, albeit he was unfortunate to miss out on a century. Even Dhawan got his touch back as he accomplished his 16th ODI ton and went on to notch 143 from 115 with 18 fours and three sixes.

KL Rahul scored a 31-ball 26 on his comeback spree. Rishabh Pant, who replaced MS Dhoni, threw his bat around to notch 36 runs from 24 deliveries. Vijay Shankar’s cameo of 26 from 15 balls took the Men in Blue to a substantial score of 358 for nine in 50 overs. From the Aussies perspective, Pat Cummins was the standout performer, having picked up five wickets. Jhye Richardson got rid of three batsmen.

Turner and Handscomb get the Aussie home

Australia made a horrendous start to their run-chase as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah got the hosts the early breakthroughs with the wickets of Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh respectively. Thereafter, Peter Handscomb and Usman Khawaja put their heads down and put on 192 runs for the third wicket. Khawaja scored yet another fifty in the series and ended up with 91 runs with seven fours.

Bumrah got him out with a short-pitched delivery. However, Handscomb went from strength to strength and racked up an awe-inspiring 117 runs from 105 balls. Then came in Ashton Turner, playing his second match, and he turned the game on his head. The right-hander churned out a knock of 84 runs from 43 deliveries with five fours and six over-boundaries to take the Australians over the finishing line.
