Twitter Reactions: Kings XI Punjab stay afloat with a win over DD
Delhi Daredevils took on the Kings XI Punjab in a thrilling encounter at the Mohali stadium. Captain Zaheer Khan won the toss as Delhi Daredevils elected to field first. While DD brought back Zaheer Khan, Quinton de Kock, Mohammad Shami and Chris Morris, Punjab had Hashim Amla making his IPL debut.
Batting first, Murali Vijay and Marcus Stoinis provided them a great start. Stoinis raced his way to 52 from 44 balls. Amla didn’t have a great debut but W Saha went on to score a brilliant half century. Glenn Maxwell also did well before Axar Patel and David Miller then provided the finishing touches to the Kings XI Punjab innings.
Punjab posted a total of 181/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Morris was the pick of the bowlers as he got 2 wickets in his spell. It was still not a difficult total to chase with the kind of firepower DD batting had in their lineup.
Delhi began well as de Kock played some splendid shots at the start. He scored a superb 52 from 30 balls. Sanju Samson missed out on a well deserved fifty as he got out on 49. In spite of the great start, KXIP bowlers scripted a turnaround with some great death bowling.
In the end, Mohit Sharma and Sandeep were excellent with their lengths as KXIP won by 9 runs. Stoinis was at his best with the ball as well and picked 3 wickets but it was the spot on death bowling ensured Punjab a victory. Marcus Stoinis deservingly won the man of the match.
Twitter kept everyone entertained with some splendid tweets throughout the KXIP-DD match. Right from lauding de Kock to trolling Maxwell, from lauding Stoinis to trolling DD selection tactics, here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
