In another one sided contest of the IPL 9, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cruised to a thumping victory by 9 wickets against the Delhi Daredevils (DD). Earlier in the game, Gambhir won the toss and choose to bowl first at the Eden Gardens.
Quinton de Kock began well for DD but as soon as he got out, wickets started flurrying for the Daredevils. Andre Russell got 3 wickets as he wrecked the top order before he headed back towards the dugout due to an injury. No other batsman in the DD lineup could inspire any confidence.
Sanju Samson looked good for a moment but was outdone by veteran Brad Hogg who bowled outstanding figures of 3 for 19 runs which also included a wicket maiden. Leggie Piyush Chawla also troubled the batsmen with his googlies extracting turn from the surface. He got a couple of wickets as well. Delhi failed to even last their quota of 20 overs as they were bundled for 98.
KKR began positively with Robin Uthappa 35 (33), Gambhir 38 (41) and later Manish Pandey 15 (12) didn’t take any risks on their stride as they sneaked out a comfortable win for the KKR to set up their campaign for this season. Andre Russell deservingly won the Man of the Match for his splendid bowling.
Though it was not quite an eventful match, Twitter managed to grab many eyeballs with some exhilarating tweets. Right from trolling Delhi Daredevils to lauding the superb effort by KKR veteran Hogg.
Here are some of the tweets that came up during the course of the game:
Stroll in the park today for KKR. Tougher matches ahead for sure, but seem to have depth and balance to cope with all situations

Bowlers have dominated 1st two games, partly coz of helpful pitches & partly coz batsmen are still finding their feet. Early days. #KKRvsDD
