The Rajasthan Royals lost yet another game in the season. With their recent defeat against the Kings XI Punjab in Indore, they have created a mess for themselves. Meanwhile, the winners of the game, the Kings, will be happy to register their first win at their new adopted home venue, Indore. Riding on a fine unbeaten fifty from KL Rahul, Kings XI Punjab chased down 152 to win the match by 6 wickets.

Earlier in the game, the Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had won the toss and elected to field first. His bowlers did not let him down and Mujeeb Zadran scalped D Arcy Short in the very first over of the game. Ajinkya Rahane perished soon after scoring just 5 on the day. Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler tried to steady the Rajasthan Royals innings by putting up some brief resistance on the day.

The duo added 49 runs for the third wicket before Andrew Tye dismissed Sanju Samson. While wickets kept falling from one end, Jos Buttler continued his good form with the bat at the other. He notched up his second consecutive fifty in the tournament. However, he could not add more to his tally after reaching the milestone. He perished with 51 to his name in 39 deliveries with 7 boundaries.

The likes of Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, and Jofra Archer struggled to provide the final flourish that the Royals needed. In the run chase, the Kings XI Punjab kept losing wickets at crucial junctures. Barring KL Rahul, no top order batsman could show resistance. Karun Nair provided support to Rahul with his timely 31 off 23 balls but got out when the innings needed a pump. KL Rahul reached yet another fifty in the season and kept the Kings in the run chase. He milked 15 runs in the 18th over bowled by Jaydev Unadkat put the hosts in a winning position.
