Last night Trinbago Knight Riders registered a comfortable win vs Guyana Amazon Warriors and reached the top of the standings. There are still a lot of games to play but Trinbago is in a good position to qualify for the semifinals. The home team was in control of the game for the most part.

Trinbago Knight Riders captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to field first. Guyana got off to a fast start as both openers Martin Guptill and Chadwick Walton dominated the bowlers. Guyana needed their wicketkeeper-batsman to get a big score but Chadwick got out for 36. From there on Trinbago’s bowlers applied pressure and didn’t allow Guyana to build any momentum. Guyana ended their innings at 156/7, which was under par.

Trinbago Knight Riders got off to worst possible start

Guyana needed early wickets if they wanted to defend 157 against the star-studded batting line up of Trinbago. They got the early break in the Brendon McCullum who was caught on the first ball of the innings. Colin Munro joined Sunil Narine at the crease and made full use of the field restrictions. At the end of the powerplay, Trinbago had already scored 72 runs.

There was a glimmer of hope for Guyana when Darren Bravo got out and Trinbago still needed close to 50 to win. But Denesh Ramdin and Colin Munro ensured that the home team crossed the finishing line without any hiccups.
