India resumed Day 3 from their overnight score of 312/2. They were again off to a fantastic first session. Virat Kohli went on to complete his 51st international century. On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara’s batting continued to grind the visitors.
Just before lunch, Pujara was bowled by Dasun Shanaka for a magnificent inning of 143. Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed cheaply after lunch. Rohit Sharma who was making a comeback to the Test side after more than a year walked in at No.6. The skipper and Rohit then blended a brilliant partnership of 173 runs for the fifth wicket.
Virat Kohli went on to smash his fifth double hundred. The blend of shots that Kohli displayed throughout his innings defined his valour with the bat. There wasn’t a single moment where it felt if Kohli was struggling. He also equalled Brian Lara’s record for most double centuries as a captain.
Rohit too made a mark with a stupendous hundred before India declared the innings scoring a mammoth total of 610/6. It was his first century in four years as he announced his comeback to Test matches in style. With a lead of 405 runs, it was evident that India had eradicated the chances of their loss in this test.
Dilruwan Perera got three wickets but ended up conceding more than 200 runs. Lahiru Gamage, Dasun Shanaka and Rangana Herath, all managed to get a wicket each. The Sri Lankan bowlers failed to create any kind of pressure to the Indian batsmen who toppled them.
Sri Lanka were off to a poor start. In what was a brilliant inswinging delivery by Ishant Sharma, Sadeera Samarawickrama let it hit the wickets. There were no further casualties for Sri Lanka as they were 21/1 at stumps on Day 4.
Twitter was quite splendid on a Sunday evening. They showered praises to Virat Kohli and lambasted the Sri Lankan bowling, hailed Rohit Sharma and trolled Sadeera Samarawickrama.

Oof, Ishant Sharma. Must you torment us with these rip-roaring reminders of the wicket-uprooting beast you can be?

Brilliant ball from Ishant. But would Ball tracker have tracked it at 'umpire's call' for hitting the stumps? #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/j3LxFATGxN

On Kohli scoring double centuries at home,@bhogleharsha: “It’s not that someone couriered the runs when you’re playing at home.”

If team India keeps playing against Sri Lanka at this rate, Virat Kohli will break Sachin's record within 5years.#INDvsSL

Vijay, Pujara, Kohli and Rohit scored 100s. Only KL Rahul must be feeling he has missed out.

Well played man…
The last time 4 Indian bats made centuries in the same innings was in 2010 v South Africa at Eden Gardens. Tendulkar, Laxman, Dhoni and Sehwag made hundreds.— cricketingview (@cricketingview) November 26, 2017
An unbeaten hundred from Rohit Sharma sees his test average creep over 40 #INDvSL

It's as if Rohit's test career was on a death bed and was granted a dying wish, and it screamed "SRI LANKAAA" #INDvSL

First test match after more than a year and he scores a hundred coming out to bat at No.6, I hope Rohit Sharma is here to stay this time around. #INDvSL

If these two batsmen don't get out, Virat will score a triple century before Pujara scores a double. #IndvSL

Pandya has missed these Tests. Rahane hasn’t scored much. Ashwin missed out too. And Rohit has announced his return to whites. Temptation to play 6 batsmen in the first #IndvSA Test? #IndvSL
