Zimbabwe have ended their disastrous Bangladesh without even a single win over the course the six matches across formats. The way the visitors lost the games will hurt them the more. The second T20I and the final game on the tour was forgettable for Sean Williams and his men. Their batsmen continued to disappoint after which Liton Das just piled on the agony to help Bangladesh chase down a meagre score of 120 with more than four overs to spare.

After being invited to bat first, Zimbabwe lost their opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe in the third over to Al Amin Hossain. However, Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine revived the innings and concentrated on not losing wickets early in the innings. The duo added 57 runs for the second wicket. But the run-rate was barely over six during the partnership.

And when it was broken, Zimbabwe collapsed in an attempt to up the ante. The likes of Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza and Richmond Mutumbami couldn’t add much to the total. Though Taylor who finally found his groove fought lonely at the other end to score an unbeaten 59 off just 48 deliveries with six fours and a six. It was due to his efforts that Zimbabwe managed to scrape through to 119/7 after 20 overs.

Mustafizur Rahman and Al Amin Hossain picked two wickets each for Bangladesh while Mahedi Hasan was the most economical bowler returning with the figures of 1/14 in three overs.

Liton Das pummels Zimbabwe bowlers, again

The target was never challenging for Bangladesh but Zimbabwe would’ve hoped to put up a fight. However, Liton Das took charge and didn’t let them settle at any stage. His new opening partner Mohammad Naim, who replaced the rested Tamim Iqbal for this match, also had some fun with the bat. The opening duo added 77 runs in less than 11 overs making the result of the match inconsequential.

Chris Mpofu was the only successful bowler as he nipped out the talented Naim for 33 in the 11th over. But there was no stopping Das who continued to churn out runs for fun against his favourite opposition. He also crossed the 50-run mark for the umpteenth time on the tour and remained unbeaten on 60 off just 45 balls with eight fours to his name. Soumya Sarkar also played his part in the chase scoring 20 off 16 deliveries.

Bangladesh got over the line in the 16th over itself completing a comfortable 2-0 series over Zimbabwe in the T20I series. They had won the ODI series by 3-0 as well and will be delighted with the way the team played.
