Twitter Reactions: Manish Pandey left out of limited-overs squads against Australia and New Zealand
He didn't play a single T20I against Australia.
India recently accounted the ODI squads against Australia and New Zealand along with the T20I squad against the Black Caps. There were a few alterations in the squad. The likes of MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya made their way into all the three teams. One cricketer who couldn’t find a place in the squads was right-handed Karnataka batsman Manish Pandey.
He played the T20I series against Windies and was drafted into the squads following some impressive performances in List A cricket. However, he could score only 23 runs in the three-match series. In the first match in Kolkata, he fell for 19 and then didn’t get to bat in the second encounter in Lucknow. In the last match in Chennai, Pandey finished with four not out.

He was also included in the T20I series against the Aussies but didn’t get to play a single match against Aaron Finch and Co. The 29-year-old was a part of India A squad which played a three-match series against New Zealand A. He scored 158 runs in three matches at a decent average of 52.67. His highest score of 111* came at Mount Maunganui in the second encounter.
The exclusion also meant that he may not be included in the final squad for the World Cup that is scheduled to get underway on May 30 in England and Wales. He was lacklustre in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), led by Kane Williamson. He couldn’t score big runs and moreover, he strained to get the runs at a fair clip.
Ever since he became the first Indian to notch a century in the IPL in 2009 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he has been doing the rounds in Indian cricket. But lack of consistency has turned out to be a detriment in his career and he has been in and out of the national team. Meanwhile, his supporters on Twitter is highly dissatisfied by his exclusion
