After a painful day one, the Australian side had to come up with different plans to unsettle the Pakistan batters on day two but it wasn’t the case straightaway. Imam Ul Haq started the day on 132 and he was quite determined to make it big on the second day while his partner Azhar Ali was nearing his well deserved century. Both the batters were happy to take the time initially, while Lyon stayed on to his tough lines grinding in the whole day.

Imam after reaching a fantastic 150, was finally dismissed in the 121st over of the Test by Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins and it ended the massive double-century partnership stand playing out almost 90 overs. However, Azhar continued his fine form against Australia with the bat raising his 19th Test century and got his strike rate up once he reached three-figure mark while skipper Babar Azam was happy to take his time to start with as well.

Azhar soon reached his 150 run mark and was quite comfortable at the crease adding another century run partnership with Azam. However, a fantastic throw from Marnus Labuchagne caught the latter short of the crease while he was on 82 ball- 36. Azhar meanwhile, was striking the ball nicely and his marathon innings finally came to an end for 185 having faced 361 deliveries.

The right-hander hit 15 fours and three sixes in his huge knock and was finally dismissed from the bowling of Marnus Labuschagne to miss out on a well deserved double hundred. Mohammad Rizwan and Ifthikhar Ahmed got some fairly quick runs on the board as the home side decided to declare on 476 for the loss of four wickets having batted 162 overs.

The tiring legs of David Warner and Usman Khawaja rushed onto the dressing room to open the innings and they had a huge task to be accomplished towards seeing the end of day two. However, bad light came to their rescue as Australia ended day two at five for no loss with just one over bowled in the innings.
