The hosts ended up the series by winning things in style. Guided by spinners, India secured a 190 run victory over New Zealand to win the series 3-2. Earlier in the day, it was MS Dhoni who won the toss as India elected to bat for the first time in the series. India brought in debutant Jayant Yadav in place of Hardik Pandya while Kulkarni made way for Bumrah.
Batting first, Rahane got out after getting a brisk start. Rohit Sharma scored his first fifty in the series with a splendid 70(65) which had 3 sixes. Dhoni looked fine at the crease before he got trapped LBW in the 40s by Santner.
While Virat Kohli had another fantastic day in the field, he scored a quite composed innings pf 65(76), rotating the strike continuously and keeping the scoreboard ticking. As he started looking out for the big shots, he gave one to Guptill near long off.
However, it was Kedhar Jadhav who stepped up at the end with a 39(37)* while Axar Patel’s little cameo also made sure that India had almost enough runs on the board in this pitch. They ended up at 269/6 in their quota of 50 overs.
Boult was the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets while Neesham and Santner also got a wicket each. Sodhi got two wickets but was quite expensive. With the pitch turning, the target of 270 was never going to be easy with Indian spinners.
The Kiwi innings bought back some memories from their test performance. 5 batsmen got out scoring a duck as the Kiwis completely failed to combat the spinners. The Indian spinners turned the NZ batsmen to their tunes as the visitors got all out for a paltry 79 runs.
Mishra made full use of his opportunity as the forefront spinner with an amazing five-wicket haul. Axar also got a couple of wickets. Mishra was declared the man of the match as well as the player of the series.
Twitter was full of superb reactions regarding the game. Right from lauding Kohli and Rohit to trolling Manish Pandey, right from lauding Mishra and Axar to trolling the Kiwi batsmen, here are some of the best tweets that took place during the course of the game:
As usual Dhoni collects the trophy and gives it to Jayant Yadev who made his ODI debut today…

India have won the series, but dont get carried away. #CT2017 in Eng, ball won't spin, batting order has heavy scoring rate issues. #IndvsNZ

Kedar Jadhav the biggest positive for India in the series. Pandey, Axar didn't quite impress much. Bowling and Virat Kohli won India series

Pace scares you, spin embarrasses you. That's exactly what has happened in Vizag. Spin to Win. #IndvNZ

If only Sachin had played today's game, we would have seen Sachin playing with a jersey name that would have read Rajni. #indvsnz

Inspite of a patchy series, MS Dhoni ends up as the second highest run scorer for India. Strike rate remains a concern though. #INDvNZ

Disappointed to see NZ bowlers putting so much effort to get Rohit Sharma out. Clearly lack of Cricketing sense. #IndvNz

Most wickets in an ODI series v NZ among spinners:
14 AMIT MISHRA*, 2016*
13 Shane Warne, 1993
13 Sunil Narine, 2012#INDvNZ— @KaNyAkUmArI VFC (@kaththiasbin) October 29, 2016
India batting first for the first time in this series…have also played an extra spinner. Time is ripe for Rohit to fire. #indvsnz
