Multan Sultans locked horns with Karachi Kings in a PSL game at Multan Cricket Stadium. The fans might have expected an enthralling encounter but that was not the case as Sultans registered an emphatic win by a margin of  52 runs. Moeen Ali and Shan Masood turned out to be the heroes of the match for their side.

Earlier, Kings won the toss and elected to field. However, the decision didn’t go well as Multan Sultans opener Moeen Ali and Zeeshan Ashraf helped their side in getting off to a decent start as they stitched a partnership of 31 runs in four overs. Kings managed to get their first breakthrough as Iftikhar Ahmed dismissed Ashraf on the first delivery of the fourth over.

Later on, Shan Masood (61 runs off 42 balls) and Moeen Ali (65 runs off 42 balls) stitched an impressive partnership of 69 runs for the 2nd wicket that helped Sultans in taking a prime lead in the match. The duo was smacking the bowlers quite effortlessly and the opponent bowlers didn’t were left clueless as they failed in their attempt to put a halt to their innings in the early phase.

Multan Sultans extend their winning streak

In the end, Moeen Ali in his attempt to score a six off Umaid Asif ended up giving a catch to Cameron Delport. Soon, Chirs Jordan castled Masood in the 12th over of the innings. Kings had finally sent the settled batsmen back into the pavilion and started taking a lead in the match.

They remained successful in restricting Multan Sultans for a score of 186 runs, who were aggressively approaching 200-run mark at one point in the match when Moeen Ali and Shan Masood were on the crease. Mohammad Amir turned out to be the leading wicket-taker for his side as he grabbed two wickets and registered bowling figures of 2/27.

Coming on to the chase, Karachi Kings got off to a worse possible start as they lost their openers Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam in the five overs of the innings. They failed to click with the bat that left the visitors struggling at the beginning of their innings. Soon, Alex Hales was also dismissed by Shahid Afridi in his attempt to score a boundary.

Karachi Kings batsmen were stuck in the web of spinners as they failed to score runs against them. Later on, none of the players in the middle-order amassed a good knock with the bat as they threw their wickets cheaply. The whole side of Kings couldn’t even play a total of 20 overs and they were dismissed for a score of 136 runs in just 17 overs.

Moeen Ali, Shahid Afridi and Imran Tahir together took a total of six wickets for their side. And, it turned out to be the main reason behind Multan Sultans 52-run victory against Karachi Kings. In the meantime, Moeen Ali was awarded Man of the Match for his all-round performance in the clash.
