MS Dhoni and stumpings have always been synonymous in the cricketing world. He has done a record 142 stumpings till date across all formats in international cricket which is a world record. The Indian skipper has not only been successful in getting wins for team India with some gutsy captaincy moves but has also been the best in his wicketkeeping duty.
He recently created history when his stumping time was measured to just 0.1 seconds against Australia in the recently concluded series. This time, it was the Sri Lankan team at the receiving end.
After playing a masterstroke by making his front line off-spinner bowl the first over, Ashwin struck on his second ball as MS Dhoni stumped Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan. No prizes to guess that the stumping was effected as fast as lightning. He was super fast and charged. It was like he did not give him a chance to get back and touch his feet down.
In the later part of the innings, he showed how alert he is as a wicketkeeper and how fast he can be in getting those bails off Dhoni also stumped opposition skipper Dinesh Chandimal, who was batting well until then.
MSD has always been known for his stumping abilities and has been lauded worldwide for his fast hands. Twitter seemed quite amazed with Dhoni’s phenomenal effort behind the wickets and were all praise for him.
Here are some of the hilarious Twitter reactions as Dhoni effected a couple of super stumping:
