It hasn’t been even 24 hours since MS Dhoni was left out of the Indian squad for the T20 Internationals. Both Rishab Pant and Dinesh Karthik earned preference over the 37-year-old wicketkeeper for the Windies and the Australian series. The chairman of selectors MSK Prasad stated that it wasn’t the last of Dhoni in T20Is and that he had a chance to prove himself.
However an hour into the game, MS Dhoni already made a mark. After taking a sensational catch, he also affected a quick stumping to get rid of the dangerous Shimron Hetmyer. The wicketkeeper also caught one edged by Marlon Samuels. In the process, he reached 423 dismissals and is only one shy of eclipsing Mark Boucher.
As India elected to field first, the Windies were looking to explode soon. However, Chandrapaul Hemraj ended up with a top edge towards fine leg. With no one positioned there, MS Dhoni ran and took a fantastic diving catch. No one expected him to complete it as the umpires also had a look. The team got into a huddle as they shared their high fives with MSD.
Shimron Hetmyer who has been giving a tough time to India so far continued from where he left. The left-handed batsman was scoring quickfire runs as he hit sixes at will. However, a tossed up delivery from Kuldeep Yadav saw Hetmyer losing his crease. Dhoni again ensured why he’s the best man behind the stumps as India got an important wicket.
Twitter was totally in appreciation of Dhoni’s acrobatics on the field. Right from portraying some fantastic fitness to taking such diving catches, right from some quickfire stumpings to his presence of mind. A lot of people praised former Captain Cool for his significant run as a wicketkeeper. Many saw this as an opportunity to diss the selection committee for dropping him in the T20Is.
Here are some of the Twitter reactions regarding Dhoni’s terrific catch and wicket-keeping today
That catch shows that MS Dhoni is still fit and reflexes haven't dimmed yet. If he can just change his approach with the bat and play like he used to between 2005-07, he can be valuable. Needs to rely on his power game which certainly hasn't dimmed #INDvWI

This catch by Dhoni just showed how quick his reflexes still are. It is just matter of one or two good innings to get him back to his A game. He will be the keeper for me in the world cup.
