Twitter Reactions: Najibullah, Rashid Khan help the Arabians make it to the playoffs

Things went just as per the script for Maratha Arabians in the last match of the Super League stages. Courtesy amazing efforts from Najibullah and Rashid Khan, the side was handed over a 9-wicket win and thus qualified into the playoffs. The Arabians finished on the third spot in the points table while the Sindhis ended their dreadful 2018 campaign with yet another loss.

Rashid Khan fills up the wickets column at last

Just as it has been throughout the tournament, the Maratha Arabians didn’t have any hesitations to bowl first after winning the toss. The oppositions have played Rashid Khan smartly thus far in the league. Most of them didn’t prefer to take too many risks against him. Hence, the leg-spinner didn’t account for as many wickets. But, with bowlers building up pressure from the other end forced the batsmen to go after Rashid.

In the process, he picked up three wickets in his two overs and gave away only 15 runs. With 46 from 28 balls, skipper Shane Watson was unbeaten in the innings. A 10-ball 17 from Thisara Perera and an 8-ball 19 from Ben Cutting helped the side finish at 98/4 in 10 overs. Richard Gleeson picked the other wicket in the innings.

Pravin Tambe struck right in the first over of the chase. He dismissed the dangerous Hazratullah Zazai for 5 on the last ball of the over. However, Alex Hales and Najibullah ensured that there were no wickets that fell after this one. Hales, who was initially the aggressor, took a step back once Najibullah got into the zone. While the latter was unbeaten on 30 off 16, his partner scored a fierce 60 off 24.

With the Maratha Arabians making it to the playoffs, the joy of the fans knew no bounds. Supporters were thrilled to see an Afghan duo win the game for their team.
