The visitors New Zealand were too good for Scotland as they went on to win the second T20I against the home team by a big margin of 102 runs. The Kiwi side also went on to post their highest T20I score against a meek-looking Scottish bowling line-up.

After winning the toss, the Kiwi side decided to have a bat first as they went on to smash 254/5 in 20 overs, surpassing their previous best score of 243/5 against West Indies in 2018. For Scotland, Chris Greaves was the only bowler who looked to trouble the Kiwi batters as the rest of the bowlers at least bowled at an economy of 11 in their spells.

Mark Chapman was the highest run-scorer for New Zealand

Senior batter Martin Guptill was rested for the encounter as the wicketkeeper-batter Dane Cleaver opened the innings along with centurion from the previous match Finn Allen. The home team got early success as they sent Finn back to the pavilion during the third over of the match.

Batter Mark Chapman who was playing his first match in the series grabbed the opportunity and went on to smash 83 runs in just 44 balls and smashing five fours and seven maximums. All-rounder Michael Bracewell was also a standout performer with the bat as he took only 25 balls to reach the total of 61 runs and hit eight fours and three sixes. Batters Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham and Cleaver also gave some vital contributions for their side as the visitors crossed the 200-run mark easily.

Chasing a huge total of 255 runs, Scotland had the worst possible start as they lost four wickets during the field restrictions. Greaves who performed well with the ball was also the highest run-scorer for his team after scoring 37 runs, followed by skipper Richie Berrington (22 runs), George Munsey (19 runs) and Michael Leask (14 runs) as the home team ended on 152 runs after the completion of their allotted 20 overs. Chapman was adjudged player of the match for his excellent performance with the bat.
