The fourth day of the second Test between Pakistan and West Indies started with the hosts one wicket down having scored 114 runs in the second inning. Opener and limited-overs skipper Azhar Ali was batting unbeaten on 52, along with Asad Shafiq who had 5 runs in his account. They started the day with clear intentions to score quick runs, get to the target range of score and put the West Indians into bat while keeping sufficient overs in hand for their bowlers to have a go on the penultimate day of the Test match.
It went as planned and despite Azahar’s dismissal for the individual score of 79 while they added another 50 runs to the overnight total. Younis Khan walked in to join Shafiq and the duo got fluent runs. Pakistan spent just 67 overs for their second knock and put together 227 runs for the loss of 2 wickets with a run rate of 3.38. Both Younis and Shafiq were unbeaten on 29 and 58 respectively as skipper Misbah-ul-Haq called them back to the dressing room. They declared with an overall lead of 455 runs.
This ensured that their bowlers had around two full sessions to charge in at the West Indies batsmen who were already under pressure of the mammoth total posted ahead of them. Kraigg Brathwaite got them off to a good start with his half century but Leon Johnson couldn’t carry on for longer than 26 balls and Windies lost another couple of wickets without much contribution in the form of Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels.
At stumps on day 4 the pair of Jermaine Blackwood and Roston Chase manned the crease with individual scores of 41 and 17 respectively while they still are 285 runs short of the target. For the hosts Yasir Shah was the pick of the bowlers having scalped a couple of wickets.

Rare occasion when a Test team's top 6 all average over 40:
S Aslam 40.40
Azhar Ali 46.12
A Shafiq 43.84
YK 54.30
Misbah 48.71
Sarfraz 43.33— Saj Sadiq (@Saj_PakPassion) October 24, 2016
Grew up admiring the great West Indian Test teams & their entertaining brand of cricket. So sad to see how much they have declined #Cricket

Of the last 13 times West Indies batted second in Tests, every time they ended up conceding a lead. #PakvWI

Samuels has been bowled or LBW in 5 of his last 8 innings, but Pakistan have only bowled at his stumps 6% of the time today #PAKvWI
