The West Indies team continued their poor run as they were again outclassed by Pakistan completely in all departments. The match saw many delays due to floodlights failure which added to the misery in what was a totally one sided affair between the two teams.

Earlier in the day, it was Jason Holder who won the toss as the Caribbeans elected to field first. The match began with a wicket off the first ball as Pakistan captain Azhar edged it towards Ramdin. Sharjeel Khan made a quickfire 54 from 43 balls as he and Babar Azam had a 82 run partnership for the second wicket.

Pakistan lost Sharjeel and Malik in quick succession before Babar Azam displayed his valour with a wonderful hundred, his first in One Day Internationals. Sarfaraz and Imad played some cameos in the end as they propelled Pakistan’s total to 284/9 in 49 overs as the match was reduced due to rains.

Brathwaite led the pack for the Windies bowlers as he got three wickets. Benn, Narine, Holder and Gabriel, all managed to get a wicket each as they failed to get going as a bowling unit. Chasing 285 here was never going to be easy.

The Windies batting lineup never quite looked in line to achieve the target. They failed to get any partnership going as the batsmen kept returning to the hut, one after the another. Marlon Samuels was the only saving grace for the visitors as he scored 46 runs.

Mohammed Nawaz went on to pick a four wicket haul while Hasan got 3 wickets along with being quite economical with the ball. Imad, Amir and Riaz also got a wicket each as the bowlers never let off the West Indies batsmen off the hook. Pakistan went on to win the game by a thumping 111 runs.

Twitter was full of adulation for youngster Babar Azam’s splendid knock. Pollard was lauded for being such an athlete in the field. On the other hand, Malik was criticised for his uselessness while some questioned the winning intent of the Windies team, following a series of failures.

Here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
