Resuming from their overnight score of 64/0, both openers Shan Masood, as well as Sami Aslam, went on to score brilliant half centuries. Taking their own sweet time, the openers continued to make the bowlers slog. However, both were out in quick succession leaving Pakistan at 116/2.

Azhar Ali walked in as he along with Asad Shafiq put up a 79-run partnership for the third wicket. Shafiq scored 39 runs from 119 balls as it was a much-composed batting from the Pakistan batsmen. There was no desperation for runs as they showed ultimate patience.

Babar Azam continued to bat with the same approach. However, he was dismissed on what turned out to be the last ball of the day. Scoring 28 (81), he had made the Sri Lankan bowlers toil hard but eventually they had the last laugh.

However, the star of the day for Pakistan was Azhar who was the last man standing at the crease. In his 200-ball stay at the crease, he was not out on 74 runs. A knock which included just 3 boundaries. He batted with absolute patience as Pakistan were 266/4 at stumps on Day 3.

Trailing by 153 runs, there’s still a lot of work left for the Pakistani batsmen at the moment. With Haris Sohail and Sarfaraz Ahmed being the next batsmen to arrive at the crease, they would be expected to contribute significantly to the total and clear the deficit off.

Rangana Herath was the pick amongst the Sri Lankan bowlers as he picked a couple of wickets. He conceded runs at a rate lesser than 2 with figures of 2/47. Dilruwan Perera was also stupendous in his bowling as he got the lone wicket of Sami Aslam. Nuwan Pradeep got the wicket of Babar Azam on the last ball of the day.

Right from lauding the openers to trolling the Sri Lankan bowling line-up, from praising Azhar Ali to trolling Babar Azam for getting out in the last over.
