Pakistan secured an easy 16 runs win over West Indies in the second T20I at Dubai International Stadium to take an inaccessible lead of 2-0 in the three-match series.

Carlos Brathwaite, the Windies skipper, won the toss and elected to bowl first. Samuel Badree opened the bowling for West Indies and was right on the money as he dismissed the dangerous Sharjeel Kahn with just 4 runs on the board.

Babar Azam and Khalid Latif steadied the ship and helped Pakistan recover from the early blow as the duo added 54 runs for the second wicket.

Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik added some quick runs for their side. The duo started to up the ante by the 15th over of the match which was bowled by the opposition skipper, Carlos Brathwaite.

The wicket was difficult to bat on as the ball was not coming onto the bat easily and West Indies bowlers mixed their lengths and pace well to make it even more tough for the Pakistani batsmen. However, the positive part of Pakistan was that they had wickets in hand and they managed to do well enough to post a total of 160 runs.

Chasing down 161 was never going to easy for the current World T20 champions on the slow wicket at Dubai. West Indies never looked comfortable in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Pakistan bowlers went for some unwanted runs towards the end of the match, but that didn’t hurt them much as the Windies eventually ended the match falling 16 runs short of the target. Sunil Narine’s 17-ball 30 cameo towards the end helped West Indies salvage some pride and narrow the losing margin.
