Twitter Reactions: Peter Siddle reaches 200 Test wickets in the 1st day-night Test: As Mitchell Johnson announced his international retirement midway through the Test series v New Zealand, Australia opted for the experienced workhorse Peter Siddle to fill in for Mitch. Before this game, Siddle has appeared in the Baggy Greens in 57 matches and had 198 wickets, and was expected to complete 200 Test wickets today.

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first in the historic match. The Aussie pace battery led by Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Siddle of course, troubled the hosts right from the start as Hazlewood had Martin Guptill leg before wicket in the 4th over of the Test. But after Kane Williamson and Tom Latham departed the bowlers did not let a single batsman settle in and the next to strike was the man who now needed just one more wicket to get to his 200th Test wicket, Peter Siddle.

As Doug Bracewell flicked one off his legs and was caught brilliantly by Joe Burns at short mid-wicket Siddle got to the moment, he looked up at the dark sky acknowledging his achievement. It was also the 9th wicket of the Kiwi innings and ensured Australia did not let the visitors put up something which could trouble them while they come out to bat.

Siddle has been known for his hard work, his pumped run up and the energy with which he runs in, to bowl, over after over, spell after spell. He is the most experienced and the pacer with most wickets in this Australian team now and the likes of Starc and Hazlewood will definitely look up to him to share his experience and energy.

Here is the Twitter world complimenting Australian pacer Peter Siddle:
