Piers Morgan is trending at the moment. Not third or fourth, but first, as per his request. However, this is certainly no ordinary Google trend. While Morgan’s initial tweet got him into a soup with Indian Olympic sympathizers, his second was the one that got many Indians boiling. The presenter for the well-known British Broadcast Channel went on to compare Sachin Tendulkar and Indian Olympians. While this would be a fair assumption as far as many would be concerned, Piers Morgan was on the receiving end of a brunt of critics.

Although Morgan was indeed getting trolled with a stern ferocity, it was clear that he would have to put an end to all of this. However, things took somewhat of a dramatic turn when he pined for more trolls, something that he did indeed receive. Although they did not necessarily troll him, the likes of Chetan Bhagat and Virender Sehwag soon became involved in the conversation. Sure enough, within a few hours, Morgan was number one on the trending list.

One of Morgan’s tweets read: “If India can produce a batsman as brilliant as @sachin_rt then it can produce Gold medal-winning Olympians. Needs investment & focus.” While another one read: “Dear Indian Twitter, @sachin_rt only follows 77 people & I am one of them. Do the maths. #Winners”

Virender Sehwag was one of the people who came to the battered Indians’ rescue when his witty tweet prevailed: “We cherish every small happiness’, But Eng who invented Cricket,&yet2win a WC,still continue to play WC. Embarrassing?”
