It all went down to the Super Over at the Kotla. Delhi Capitals sensationally choked in the chase after Prithvi Shaw got out in the penultimate over for 99 runs. The home team batted first in the super over and Prasidh Krishna bowled brilliantly to concede only 10 runs. But it was Kagiso Rabada who stole the show in the end with one of the best super overs.
He bowled a scorching yorker to Andre Russell to uproot his middle-stump off the second ball after conceding the first ball for four. He continued to bowl yorker length deliveries for the rest of the over and sensationally defended 10 runs to seal the second win for the Delhi Capitals.
About the Main game
There were two contrasting knocks at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday in the game between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). While Andre Russell bailed his team out of trouble with his brute power and Dinesh Karthik played a captain’s knock, Prithvi Shaw was pure class in the chase as he took his team home with a magnificent innings.
When the KKR posted the total of 185 runs in the first innings, the momentum was with the visiting team and there were doubts in the fans’ mind whether the Capitals would be able to chase it. With Shikhar Dhawan failing, more than half hopes were gone. But there was future of Indian cricket in the middle. Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer got hold of the conditions first and then literally pummelled the opposition’s bowling attack.
Iyer, at one stage, was struggling at 8 off 16 but then he launched a brutal attack on Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling. The chinaman went for a massive 33 runs of his two overs to leave even the KKR fans shocked. Shaw, on the other hand, kept on dishing out some of the classic textbook strokes a the fans went berserk at the Kotla. The partnership which was going nowhere at one stage was turning out to be a match-winning one for the home side.
The duo added 89 runs for the second wicket in no time to put the Delhi Capitals front in the game. Iyer was dismissed on 43 by none other than Andre Russell and a good catch was taken by Shubman Gill which could’ve gone either way. But even after his wicket, Shaw continued playing strokes which were a delight to the eyes but there was heartbreak when he got out for 99 in the penultimate over.
The things changed dramatically as Kuldeep Yadav defended 6 runs in the last over. Colin Ingram tried to steal a second off the final delivery but was run-out in the end as the game went into the super over. But Kagiso Rabada kept his cool to help his team win the match eventually.
Russell and Karthik bail KKR out of trouble
Earlier, the things weren’t going as planned for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before Russell and Karthik got together. They were struggling miserably at 61/5 at one stage in the 10th over and things weren’t really looking good. But the duo in the middle did a fine job. While Russell hammered the bowlers with utter disdain, the KKR skipper played second fiddle to him.
Both stitched rather romped to a 95-run stand for the sixth wicket as the KKR managed to post a mammoth total of 185 runs on the board. But all the hard work from them went in vain as a youngster from Mumbai and a pacer from South Africa brought all their class to the fore to help the Delhi Capitals win their second game of the season.

After that superb start in Tests, I have realised Prithvi Shaw is a very special player. Indian cricket must handle him with care & the seniors could mentor him.#DC

.@KagisoRabada25: You have to keep your wits about you and be clear about what you bowl.

Unbelievable match! Defending 10-11 runs in a Super Over extremely difficult. Rabada pulled it off with a degree of ease. All told, KKR ledt to regret poor top order batting. For Delhi, quite a few heroes, among them tall and rangy Rabada and pint-sized @PrithviShaw!

.@KagisoRabada25: I went for the yorkers and that was what worked!!!

Rabada's yorker to Russell is one of the great balls in T20. Dre is batting on another planet to the rest of the circuit right now – the margin for error to him his infinitesimal & KG nails an inch-perfect yorker right on middle stump & right on the crease-line. #IPL #DCvKKR

Rabada bowled his heart out! All six deliveries on the money, there was not much to play for and he made it possible for his team, well played DC👏🏻
