Twitter Reactions: R Ashwin rips apart Sri Lankan batting on Day 1 at Galle: Today, on a pitch that had been under cover for the last few days, Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. But, not even in his worst dream he would have imagined that his side would get flattened out in two sessions on the 1st day at Galle. The Galle pitch had something for the seamers upfront but traditionally it’s known to come good for the batters on the first two days of the match which was the idea behind Mathew’s decision as well. As expected the off-spinner R Ashwin reaped fruits against the southpaws as he got rid of Sangakkara, Thirimanne and Mubarak en route to his six-fer in the innings.
Sri Lanka got bundled out for 183 runs while the Indian batters put up a solid show when they came out to bat. By the end of the day, Indians were trailing by just 55 runs with 8 wickets in hand. Kohli and Dhawan are unbeaten on 45 and 53 runs respectively, a Test match which has already tilted India’s way right on day 1.
Here are the Twitter Reactions: R Ashwin rips apart Sri Lankan batting on Day 1 at Galle:
After this match, Kohli shouldnt go back to 7-4 combination. 6-5 is good. #SLvIND

Fine recovery effected by Dhawan and Kohli. Now to get a stranglehold on the match by playing the first session tomorrow sensibly

Shikhar Dhawan in 2015 seems to be replicating the success he got in 2013.#CricbuzzCup

Two debates rise out of day one at #Galle
1. Ashwin vs Harbhajan (actually a non-debate now)
2. Rohit vs Pujara#INDvSL— Jaspreet Sahni (@Jaspreet_TOI) August 12, 2015
This #INDvSL series is being called Cricbuzz cup. This is mega trolling of Cricinfo. Do they have to name their competitor each time?

As Greig may have said, "Boy, these little Lankans sure can make a big noise I tell you"#INDvSL

If Ashwin keeps bowling this way, he will do well overseas too. A lot of guile in his bowling now. Not just depending on the pitch.

Well bowled @ashwinravi99 wonderful flight, line and length. Put India in a commanding position!! #INDvSL

Srilanka missing Mahela.. They would have loved to have him today, not just batting but his catching in slips too, crucial #INDvSL
