were donned by Ajinkya Rahane as he led a young side. The unit showed great promise as they performed brilliantly to make light work of the challenging total posted by the visitors. Earlier in the day, it was captain Eoin Morgan who once again won the toss and elected to bat first. England began their innings in a splendid fashion. Jason Roy gave a quickfire start while Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales scored half centuries and provided a perfect platform for the middle order to go all blazing.
However, golden ducks for Morgan and Jos Buttler ensured a collapse. From 116/1, the Englishmen were reduced to 211/9. Some late charge by Adil Rashid and David Willey took England to 282 before they were all out in the penultimate over. Parvez Rasool was the pick of the bowlers for India A with figures of 3/38. Shahbaz Nadeem and Ashok Dinda got a couple of wickets each. Pradeep Sangwan also got two wickets but was quite expensive. Young Punjab pacer Siddharth Kaul got one wicket.
The top order provided a kickstart to India A in the chase. Rahane who batted splendidly missed out on a deserving hundred as he was dismissed for 91 runs from 83 balls. His opening partner Sheldon Jackson also scored a superb half century and looked comfortable at the crease. Both added 119 runs for the first wicket partnership.
Rishabh Pant coming in at No.3, displayed his pinch hitting skills with a scintillating 59 runs from 36 balls while Suresh Raina coming back after an illness also scored 45 runs from 34 balls. Baroda allrounder Deepak Hooda gave the finishing touches as India A won the game by 6 wickets and with more than 10 overs to spare.
In spite of the stalwarts not playing today, it didn’t stop Twitterati from taking interest in the game. Youngsters surely impressed the people out there. England’s abysmal display didn’t delight the fans out there. Here are some of the Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
Here comes Raina's Trademark shot…. Lofted Straight Drive #IndAvENG

I hope that Billings' omission from the 2nd warm up means he is a shoe in for the one dayers. Pick form not reputation #IndAvEng #billings

I see #EoinMorgan got a 1st ball duck to go with his 3 the other day. #IndAvEng Maybe #England should have moved on without him, perhaps?

Mixed bag for England after winning the toss. They slumped from 115/1 to 211/9 before Rashid & Willey added 71 for the last wicket #IndAvEng
