Third win on the trot for Sunrisers Hyderbad! What a turnaround it has been from the Orange Army after losing their first couple of matches in IPL 2022. Kolkata Knight Riders are the latest to go down against SRH and the two-time champions seem to have lost their momentum. Although KKR did well in several junctures of the game, SRH eventually recorded a comfortable seven-wicket win thanks to Rahul Tripathi’s brilliance.

Earlier in the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. KKR’s top-order woes continued as both openers Aaron Finch, who was playing his first game this season, and Venkatesh Iyer were dismissed for single-digit scores. While skipper Shreyas got a start, he once again couldn’t capitalize and was dismissed for 28. As Sunil Narine and Sheldon Jackson also endured failures, SRH were firmly on command.

However, the repair work was then done by Nitish Rana and Andre Russell. The former paced his innings to perfection as he was watchful early on before shifting gears. He eventually brought up his maiden half-century of the season as KKR were right back in the hunt. The baton was then passed onto Russell, who came much later to bat. The dasher played some delightful shots and slammed an unbeaten 49 off 25 balls.

As a result, KKR posted 175/8 in their allotted 20 overs. T Natarajan was the pick of the bowlers for SRH, scalping three wickets. In reply, the Orange Army also got off to a dismal start with opener Abhishek Sharma walking back after scoring three. While skipper Kane Williamson played some fine shots, he was also dismissed for 17. At this stage, KKR looked firmly in command with the required run rate constantly going up.

However, little did they know Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram will put up a batting exhibition! The former was destructive in particular as he made an absolute mockery of the KKR bowlers. He brought up his fifty off just 21 balls and scored 71 in total. Markram, who was playing the second fiddle to Tripathi, shifted gears afterwards and slammed an unbeaten 68 off 36 balls. As a result, SRH crossed the line in 17.5 overs, clinching the contest by seven wickets.

Meanwhile, let’s look at Twitter reacted to SRH’s triumph:
