Rajshahi Royals registered a convincing win over Sylhet Thunder.
Rajshahi Royals outclassed Sylhet Thunder in the fifth match of BPL 2019-20. It turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Royal players gave commendable performances in every department of the game. It was their second successive win in this season of the tournament. Now, with two wins in two games, they are leading the points table with four ratings.
At the start, Royals won the toss and elected to bowl. The decision went in favour of team fielding first as their bowlers displayed some brilliant performances with the ball. However, they had to wait for four overs in order to get their first wicket of the match.

Thunder got off to a decent start on the back of their opener Rony Talukdar and Johnson Charles, who were scoring runs at a good rate but when their partnership started looking dangerous, Royals skipper Andre Russell plumped Talukdar out. He mustered 19 runs off 17 balls with one boundary and one six.
In the next over, Alok Kapali bowled Charles out and batting side was left struggling on a score of 41 runs at loss of four wickets. During batting, Thunder batters got off to a good start but no one could convert it into a good knock. The top-class batsman Mossadek Hossain and Mohammad Mithun also failed to score runs against Royals’ bowling unit. It was one of the main reasons because of which Thunder couldn’t post a good total on the scoreboard.
Aloke Kapali bowled a brilliant spell and registered bowling figures of 3/17. Ravi Bopara and Farhad Reza also took 2-2 wickets each at a good economy. It was their commendable effort that the whole team of Thunder was dismissed at a score of 91 runs in 15.3 overs.
Coming on to chase, Royal lost their in-form batsman Hazratullah Zazai in the first over of the innings. He was bowled by Nayeem Hasan, the off-break spinner on a brilliant ball. It looked like Thunder might mark their comeback into the match but that was not the case.
A brilliant partnership for the 2nd wicket between Liton Das (44 off 26 balls) and Afif Hossain (30 runs off 25 balls) helped Royals to become the forerunners to win the match. Later on, Afif was caught by Mosaddek Hossain off Naveen ul Haq but till then Rajshahi Royals had already taken a big lead in the match.
In the end, Shoaib Malik(16 runs off 11 balls) finished the match in a style with a boundary and Royals chased down the target in 10.5 overs. Aloke Kapali emerged as the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling. Fans took to their Twitter handle and congratulated for winning the match against Thunder with sheer dominance.
