The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been languishing at the bottom of the points table. This can be highly attributed to their poor bowling performances this season. In the seven games played, they’ve already conceded 200 runs thrice. Their bowling has been so helpless that at times, it has made skipper Virat Kohli seem clueless.
Interestingly, even the players they’ve let out from last season have been performing extremely well. Both KL Rahul and Shane Watson have displayed some tremendous form in the ongoing season. Another sublime example of the same is Chris Gayle who has already slammed a century and two fifties in just four games. However, there has been a huge uproar amongst the fans after Gayle’s recent statement on RCB.
Chris Gayle asserted that the franchise had promised him retention earlier before and didn’t revert back later. He expressed his disappointment over the same. Considering the stature Gayle holds, especially his contribution for RCB, the actions were highly disrespectful.
“I was their biggest draw. It was disappointing from that end, because they had called me. They wanted me in the team and I was told that I will be retained. But they never called back after that. So that gave me the impression that they didn’t want me and it’s fine.” Gayle was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Twitter was really displeased with the behaviour of the RCB management. As soon as the interview spread, many users slammed the Bangalore franchise for not giving proper treatment to the legendary player. They expressed anger over the same.
Many people tagged the RCB handle and questioned them. Others were sad and deemed it as unsporting behaviour. Taking in mind the contribution of Gayle in the past, the demeanour of the management was disappointing, to say the least.
Here we have some of the Twitter reactions from fans after Gayle’s statements on RCB
So RCB called Chris Gayle, told him they would retain him and then didn't even call back after that. Just ignored him in the auction. Wow, what a way to run the franchise and what a way to communicate to the players. Brilliant.

To be honest, Chris Gayle singlehandedly lifted this team for three consecutive years 2011, 2012 and 2013. He was good in 2015 as well, made the foundation for RCB’s chase in the 2016 final. Still if RCB don’t give him that kind of respect, they deserve to rot at the bottom. #IPL

Robbed the money of thousands of kf employees, robbed the money from banks n flew away to London n now backstabbed Gayle too?! Niceeee. No wonder why RCB wins nothing. Commited every shit sin.

Calling Gayle and telling him that you would be retained…and then RCB didn't do that. BETRAYAL

Dunno how much of it should be put down on the RCB management only. They retained Sarfraz for 1.75 CR. Could have reached a settlement for Gayle, if they wanted. Anyway, sad to not revert after promising. https://t.co/Ny5C6KM83Y

Really RCB!!! If that happened as Gayle mentioned then it's downright shameful tbh. Why give false hopes yaar…
RCB is failing both as a team and as a management

Okay #RCB that's a low. No wonder you just can't lift yourself up from the bottom. You just keep going low & low & low #Gayle pic.twitter.com/ffpCas0FD5

Thanks for exposing RCB Gayle. I feel terrible and sad that they did such a thing.

Chris Gayle's frustration towards RCB is on point. They called him & told that they'll retain and never called back. Cool. That's how you manage the team. Sack the auction strategist of RCB.

I guess RCB management saw a 'Chris Gayle' in Sarfaraz Khan and retained him instead, to realise later that he was not even half of Stuart Binny.

Retaining a player or not is a different thing but there was no need of giving false hopes to Gayle.
Utterly upset by what the RCB management did to him.— . (@loyallarents) April 30, 2018
The @RCBTweets don't have patience neither they know how to utilise players as per their strengths. @klrahul11 @henrygayle #shanewatson all are winning matches for their new teams single handedly just because teams are showing faith in dem and using dem as per their strengths. pic.twitter.com/q11iWHfxsU

This is not the way to treat a player, a player like Chris Gayle! The man who has many times literally dragged the team to victory!
— minakshi #CSK? (@TuSafarMera) April 30, 2018
I feel bad after reading the IV of @henrygayle , that's not how you treat your legendary player and hero who won many matches for your single handedly @RCBTweets .Shame on #RCB for giving false hope to Gayle and ignoring him.
Now want to see Gayle blasting RCB in next match ?? pic.twitter.com/ffEl81uxZP— Bowya Madhi ✨ (@bowya8) April 30, 2018
Will be interesting what kohli or RCB management will have to say on gayle’s story…..

No wonder Gayle was so mad at RCB!! Don’t want to retain, no issues. Just don’t give false hopes, that’s the least you can show your respect! One trash of a management, #RCB!
— Adlee Sharon (@adlee_sharon) April 30, 2018
#RCB told Gayle that he would be retained. Shocking! Not a way to treat your biggest draw! #IPL2018 https://t.co/u8lrUCg2Ko
