Twitter Reactions: RCB management slammed for mistreating Chris Gayle
As soon as the interview spread, many users slammed the Bangalore franchise for not giving proper treatment to the legendary player.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been languishing at the bottom of the points table. This can be highly attributed to their poor bowling performances this season. In the seven games played, they’ve already conceded 200 runs thrice. Their bowling has been so helpless that at times, it has made skipper Virat Kohli seem clueless.
Interestingly, even the players they’ve let out from last season have been performing extremely well. Both KL Rahul and Shane Watson have displayed some tremendous form in the ongoing season. Another sublime example of the same is Chris Gayle who has already slammed a century and two fifties in just four games. However, there has been a huge uproar amongst the fans after Gayle’s recent statement on RCB.
Chris Gayle asserted that the franchise had promised him retention earlier before and didn’t revert back later. He expressed his disappointment over the same. Considering the stature Gayle holds, especially his contribution for RCB, the actions were highly disrespectful.
“I was their biggest draw. It was disappointing from that end, because they had called me. They wanted me in the team and I was told that I will be retained. But they never called back after that. So that gave me the impression that they didn’t want me and it’s fine.” Gayle was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Twitter was really displeased with the behaviour of the RCB management. As soon as the interview spread, many users slammed the Bangalore franchise for not giving proper treatment to the legendary player. They expressed anger over the same.
Many people tagged the RCB handle and questioned them. Others were sad and deemed it as unsporting behaviour. Taking in mind the contribution of Gayle in the past, the demeanour of the management was disappointing, to say the least.
