After Pujara, Pant blunted the Australian bowling.

India needed an innings of substance from someone else apart from Cheteshwar Pujara on the second day in Sydney. Hanuma Vihari was expected to do that job after blunting the new ball late on the first day. But he looked fidgety in the morning and was eventually dismissed by Nathan Lyon under controversial circumstances on 42. At 329/5, Australia still had a chance to make a comeback but little did they know about what was going to follow.
Rishabh Pant walked out to bat in the middle and unlike his previous outings, played sensibly. With Pujara batting really well, Pant took a leaf out of his book and gave himself some time at the start. There were occasions when the field was set to induce a false shot from him. But the youngster was determined today and was unfazed with all that has happened before.
Pant unfurls normal celebrations
Rishabh Pant, earlier in the series, was guilty of throwing away his wickets with rash shots and was time and again getting out in the 30s. In Sydney though once he crossed that mark, the left-hander continued the way he was playing by curbing his natural instincts. Rewards automatically came as the tired bowlers got frustrated and dished out some hit-me deliveries.
Many felt that India would declare after reaching close to the 500-run mark. But Pant didn’t change his style of batting as the visitors were intent on batting deep in the day. Even Ravindra Jadeja took time to get his eye in and has added more than 100 runs with Pant now.
In the meantime, Rishabh Pant reached the 90s and famously missed the bludgeon down the ground which must have brought the heart in his mouth. He has been guilty of getting out in the 90s before but after that mishit, the flamboyant cricketer stayed calm. However, he reached his second Test ton with a boundary to the leg-side and celebrated normally soaking in the applause from the crowd. India are still batting and the shoulders of the opposition have dropped with Pant unbeaten on 120.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Pantastic ! Wonderful 100 from @RishabPant777 , 2nd overseas century and now the 2nd highest run getter in the series after Pujara. Yeah Baby! Sitter pic.twitter.com/k8HNvJjFMm

Top top knock from @RishabPant777 , controlled aggression. Would have been tempted to throw his bat around in the current circumstances #AUSvIND

Pant looks such a good player & dependable when he is batting in 3rd gear. Going forward he could try & perfect his 4th gear shots ( lofted shots) or play largely in 3rd gear like this. #UnsolicitedAdvice

Rishabh Pant during this Test series:
1) Kept well
2) Scored a hundred and more runs than Virat Kohli. Became first Indian wicketkeeper to score a ton in Australia
3) Had been a good "babysitter".#RishabhPant #TeamIndia #AUSvIND #INDvAUS #AUSvsIND #INDvsAUS #SCGTest #SydneyTest pic.twitter.com/DESTaBALXz— Ameya Tilak (@ameyatilak) January 4, 2019

Rishabh Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century in England last year.
Now, he gets the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper in Australia as well.
He's just 21 years of age and 9 Tests old. #AUSvIND @RishabPant777 @BCCI #RishabhPant pic.twitter.com/IqF2NSNCFO
