Ross Taylor invited all the social media trollers today after he put down an easy-peasy catch which could have sent India batting mainstay Virat Kohli. Taylor sloppy fielding was quite surprising given the fact that he is such a good fielder. The blunder happened in the 5th over, when Kohli found himself in danger after his attempt to guide the ball towards the third man almost got him dismissed.

Matt Henry surprised Kohli and with the bounce and forced Kohli to hit the ball towards gully region where Taylor was stationed. The catch wasn’t difficult. It went straight to him but was little low. But, it was a simple catch and a fielder of Taylor’s calibre would have taken it on most occasions. Unfortunately, Taylor fumbled and lost the golden opportunity to dismiss Kohli.

Twitter was quick at mocking Taylor fro his dropped catch. Many aptly acknowledge the fact that how dangerous Kohli is during chases and dropping his wicket is equal to losing the match itself. Fortunately, the visitors were able to strike almost immediately after Taylor’s fielding blunder. Veteran Tim Southee made sure that Rohit Sharma did not proceed further that making 13 runs and dismissed him in the 9th over.

The catch was crucial for the Black Caps who, after setting a challenging target of 286 runs, had managed to remove Ajinkya Rahane early. Rahane’s departure was a huge setback to India’s effort and losing Kohli quickly afterwards, would have further pushed India on the backfoot. What is more amusing that Kohli, however, at the moment is at the crease and going strong, leading the chase with skipper MS Dhoni.
