The 10th match of the T20 World Cup 2021 (Group B) saw the day of the light between Oman and Scotland at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium. Scotland won the game by eight wickets and made their Super 12 dream come alive. Winning the toss, the hosts decided to take the field with willows first only to post a meagre total in front of an in-form Scotland side.
The opening stand couldn’t flourish for the team as Jatinder Singh went off without opening the account where and Aqib Ilyas only added a crucial 37 from his end. Nothing really mattered for Oman from here on as all the batters returned to the pavilion in single digits apart from skipper Zeeshan Maqsood and Mohammad Nadeem who added 34 and 25 respectively from their ends. It was due to the dismal batting show of Oman that they were able to put just 122 runs in their quota of 20 overs.
Josh Davey showed upright with the ball as he clinched three wickets while conceding at an impressive 6.20. Safyaan Sharif and Michael Leask picked two wickets each for Scotland to stop the opponents from scoring big. Mark Watt maintained the best economy of 5.80 from the bowling arsenal of Scotland.

Massively chuffed for Scotland. Absolutely torn it up in Round 1, and go through as deserved group winners – stunning performance

Fitting that Berrington hit a six to put @CricketScotland into the main draw (Super 12s) in style, for 1st time. It was a microcosm of fearless cricket they've played so far. Dominant right through #T20WorldCup .Says a lot about how much they have improved over the last few years

Being half Scottish I must admit I’m partial to a bit of haggis, Irn Bru, shortbread, whisky, and tartan. But Scotland Cricket progressing in the T20 WC has made my day!! Well done.

As soon as the chase game began, the opening pair flourished for the team as George Musey added crucial 20 while his partner Kyle Coetzer went to smash 40 runs off just 28 deliveries. However, there was nothing much left for the batters to follow on from here as Matthew Cross (26) along with Richie Berrington (31) played brilliantly to push Scotland to get over the line easily. Fayyaz Butt and Khawar Ali picked one wicket each for Oman.
Talking of the Qualifiers’ matches, Sri Lanka has already qualified from group A while the next one team is awaited from the same group for the Super 12 stage. Talking of group B, Bangladesh sealed their Super 12 spot today after clinching a huge win against PNG. However, after the latest match, Scotland has become the 2nd team to qualify for Super 12 stages from Group B with six points under their belt.
