Pakistan registered a whitewash in the three-match ODI series against West Indies after yet another dominating victory in the final game. Shadab Khan’s four-wicket haul combined with his brilliant innings with the bat earned him the player of the match award while Imam-ul-Haq finished as the player of the series.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq started off well and reached an 85-run partnership for the first wicket. However, the West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran brought himself into the attack, and the move paid off as he picked Zaman for a 48-ball 35. Babar Azam (1) could not continue his good form in this game and he was trapped in front of the wickets by Hayden Walsh.

However, Imam kept finding the boundaries and reached yet another half-century. Pooran managed to get rid of the left-hander for a 68-ball 62 that included seven fours and a six. Mohammad Rizwan (11) and Mohammad Haris (0) followed him soon as the home side was in trouble at 117 for 5 in the 25th over. Shadab Khan and Khushdil Shah came to the rescue of the men in green and stitched a crucial partnership of 84 for the sixth wicket.

Here’s how the Twitter reacted to Pakistan’s victory

Akeal Hosein’s quickfire knock against Pakistan goes in vain

Shadab Khan in particular was aggressive and reached his half-century while Khushdil was dismissed after a 43-ball 34. The leg spinner managed to take the side to a competitive total of 269 for 9 in 50 overs with a 78-ball 86. Nicholas Pooran was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 48 in his ten-over spell.

In reply, West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the run chase and the Pakistan bowlers were on the money from the start of the innings. At 129 for 6, it looked like the visitors might be bundled out for under 150, however, Akeal Hosein managed to keep the side in the hunt.

Hosein’s 37-ball 60 comprised of six sixes and two fours and he was running out of partners towards the end. Keemo Paul played a good hand of 11-ball 21, while Romario Shepherd scored a 25-ball 16. In the end, Pakistan won the game by 53 runs by the DLS method as the game was reduced to 48 overs due to the dust storm.
