All-rounder Khushdil Shah showed his prowess with the bat to take the Multan Sultans home as it was a run feast out there in the middle at the National Stadium in Karachi. Earlier, on the day the Multan Sultans won the toss and chose to bowl against the Lahore Qalandars in the third game of the PSL 2022 edition. Fakhar Zaman went after the bowling from the outset and the openers put an excellent partnership of 89 until Imran Tahir provided the breakthrough. Fakhar’s 76 in 35 deliveries comprised of 11 fours and two sixes and it delivered the right momentum for a big total to be posted.

Kamran Ghulam continued the assault with a quickfire 43 and hit three sixes and two fours in his innings. Hafeez and Dunk fell in quick succession going for the big shots, however, a late blast from David Wiese and Rashid Khan propelled the total to 206 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. David Willey was the pick of the bowlers going for 23 runs in his 3 overs and picked up a wicket as well.

Khusdil Shah wins it for Multan Sultans

Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood came out to bat with a daunting total to chase down and they did not leave the run rate to go above at all by consistently hitting boundaries. Both the openers hit their half-centuries in a quick time and left the Lahore Qalandars with no options to chose. The Multan Sultans were cruising at one stage with 150 on the board in 14.2 overs until Rashid Khan picked up the first wicket of Masood who top-scored with 83 off 50 balls.

Rizwan(69) followed Masood in two overs time exactly with the required rate under 10 at the moment. However, a bundle of wickets fell after skipper Shaheen Afridi came back for a spell and left Multan Sultans to chase down 16 runs in 8 deliveries. The 26-year-old Khushdil Shah came into the crease with huge pressure, but he took off straight away with 18 runs in just 4 deliveries and sealed the victory for the Multan Sultans with four balls to go.

With the win, the Multan Sultans have moved to the top of the points table with 4 points and are looking comfortable at the moment with 2 wins in 2 games.
