After being put into bat first by Ireland, Pakistan is having a go at the home side as the Pakistani opener Sharjeel Khan took at the attack on to the opposition. Despite losing his opening partner early, Sharjeel kept playing positively as he went on to score 152 runs from 86 balls to give a great platform for the visitors.

Sharjeel’s 152 is the third highest individual score by a Pakistan cricketer ever in their history, after Saeed Anwar’s 194 against India in May 1997 and Imran Nazir’s 164 against Zimbabwe in March 2007.

His aggressive innings witnessed 16 fours and 9 sixes as he was having a strike-rate of 176.74. Apart from him, not many batsmen found a way to give him the best of support as Mohammed Hafeez and Babar Azam fell after having a good start.

Hafeez had a soft dismissal as he cuts the ball hard but found William Porterfield at point, who completes an easy catch just above his head. Hafeez stood the ground for a moment as he couldn’t believe what happened.

Babar Azam gave away the wicket with the tiniest of edges carrying through to Niall O’Brien behind the stumps off the bowling of Barry McCarthy. He is the one who picked the wicket of Sharjeel too, as he lashes out at the delivery and the skied up delivery was caught by Niall O’Brien again to bring an end to the entertaining innings.
