Twitter Reactions: South Africa command control after Duminy, Elgar tons

South Africa started the day at 104/2 with Dean Elgar and JP Duminy at the crease and on scores of 46 and 34 respectively. Both the batsmen who made their Test debuts at the WACA a few years ago would have definitely had it in mind to make it count this time. For Elgar it was a chance to erase off the memories of his pair that he bagged the last time.
They were on the same mission but with different approaches, while Duminy was the aggressor Elgar was in no mood to hurry things as he knew he had all the time in the world to get set and post a score that will be remembered for a long time. There was not much the bowlers could impose though the wicket that already has visible cracks and the odd ball jumped up and kept low.
The duo opted to keep risks at bay and score just off the best opportunities, this paid off as first Duminy got to his century on the 169th ball of his inning and when Dean Elgar finally joined him in the triple figures he had faced 255 deliveries. They made sure Australia had no chance of a comeback in the game and if only they desired to win this Test had to bat out of their skins and rewrite a few records.
Their partnership was finally broken when Duminy was dismissed by Peter Siddle on 141; his partner had a brief stand with skipper Faf du Plessis but perished to Josh Hazlewood. Temba Bavuma also got out early and Faf joined him back to the pavilion while just six more runs were added to the team total. That was the moment when things looked like slipping into Australia’s favor. But then the lower order pair of Quinton de Kock and Vernon Philander got into the act and took them into stumps without any further damage.

After three days of cricket the WACA pitch is beginning to show some early signs of uneven, primarily lower, bounce. #AusvSA pic.twitter.com/cLDA3SJ0kZ

Mitchell Marsh is not good enough with the bat or the ball. Australia would be better off with a specialist batsman at 6. #AUSvSA

Dean Elgar doing slightly better (127) than he did in his last Test in Perth (0 & 0). #AUSVSA

Lyon has considerably underbowled today given the temperature and how well he bowled in first innings. #ausvsa

Mountain to climb for @CAComms even with Dale Steyn not to bowl for Proteas in 4th innings #ausvsa pic.twitter.com/jn1tmbAzf8
