A South African side without the likes of AB de Villiers and Faf Du Plessis was surely missing its soul. However, the fact that they got bundled for a total of 118 runs just doesn’t seem acceptable. This was their lowest score ever at home as the batsmen put up a dismal performance.
Aiden Markram who was leading the side in only his third ODI didn’t have a memorable stint. Batting first, South Africa didn’t begin so badly as Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock put up 39 runs for the first wicket before Amla edged one from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
However, as soon as the wrist spinners were introduced the hosts were in deep trouble. De Kock got out attempting a big shot on a Yuzvendra Chahal delivery. In the very next over, Kuldeep Yadav sent both Markram and David Miller back to the pavilion. Within a space of seven balls, South Africa were reduced to 51/4.
JP Duminy and debutant Khaya Zondo tried to rescue the Proteas from the early slump. However, once they were both dismissed, the tailenders failed to survive against the Indian bowlers. It was only a matter of time before the hosts bowed down and they were all out for 118 runs.
Yuzvendra Chahal registered his best One-Day International figures – 5/22 and he got a five-wicket haul in South Africa. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav had 3/20. Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a wicket each. The Indian bowlers put up another magnificent display.
Twitter was elated with India’s brilliant performance with the ball. The likes of Chahal and Yadav were lauded for their spectacular display. On the other hand, it was the Proteas batting lineup that was at the receiving end. There were more talks about Hardik Pandya’s hair than his performance in today’s game.
Here we present to you some of the Twitter reactions poking fun at the Proteas slump:
India has been amazing in both the ODI s and the wristies have been amazing, great effort to go 2-0 up and fingers crossed for 6-0. Well done imVkohli , @yuzi_chahal and @imkuldeep18 ?????#INDvSA

My favourite thing about Kuldeep and Chahal is them tossing it up.
In an era where spinners try to bowl flat.
It's nice to see 2 spinners in one team treat the ball like a kite and every over as Makar Sankranti.#SAvIND— Sorabh Pant (@hankypanty) February 4, 2018

If Pandya dropped that catch, he would entirely be blamed for everything that went wrong in SA. Especially, keeping in mind his run out in the test match.

Hardik Pandya has 2 different strategies for test & ODIs
1. Yellow hair for test.
2. Blue hair for ODIs#INDvSA
