Twitter Reactions: SRH bowlers hurt Mumbai Indians with regular strikes
Mumbai Indians finished with 147/8 in their stipulated 20 overs.
The defending champions Mumbai Indians faced a narrow defeat in the season opener this year. They have always been late bloomers in the tournament. However, one would know that it is always good to get the first points on the board as soon as possible. In the pursuit of their first points of the season, the defending champions headed south to face off against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The stage was all set for the second home game of the 2016 IPL champions. The Sunrisers had beaten the Rajasthan Royals in their first game of the season and were certainly high on confidence. Coming to the game, they continued their good show in the first half of the game. As the things stand out at the half way stage, the equation looks tilted in the favor of the home side.
The game started off with a surprise coming from both the camps. Two big names missed out the game from each side. While Hardik Pandya did not turn up for Mumbai Indians on the day, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out from the SRH camp. SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bowl first. His bowlers lived up to the expectations very well.
Mumbai lost their skipper Rohit Sharma in the second over itself with Billy Stanlake drawing first blood. Evin Lewis got going for his 17-ball 29 but failed to convert it to a big one. Suryakumar Yadav scored a fighting 28 off 31 deliveries in the middle order but that never really looked in command. The wickets kept tumbling with the SRH bowlers sharing the scalps among themselves.
Rashid Khan bowled four overs to concede just 13 runs that put the brakes on the MI innings even more. Kieron Pollard played a late hand of 28 off 23 deliveries but the innings barely crawled. Eventually, the Mumbai Indians finished with 147/8 in their stipulated 20 overs. Sandeep Sharma, Stanlake, and Siddarth Kaul took two wickets each while Rashid and Shakib Al Hasan grabbed one each.
